April 2, 2020
Madison, WI—Ascendium Education Group has released its 2019 Education Philanthropy report, A Sharper Focus. The report highlights the organization’s new funding strategy across four focus areas for maximum impact over the next three to five years:
- Removing Structural Barriers to Success
- Streamlining Key Learner Transitions
- Expanding Postsecondary Education in Prison
- Supporting Rural Education and Workforce Training
Total grant commitment in 2019: $108 million.
Ascendium’s grantmaking strategy focuses on helping more people from low-income backgrounds, especially those in historically underrepresented groups: first-generation students, incarcerated adults, rural community members, students of color and veterans. We are committed to advancing ideas at every stage in their development, from promising but untested approaches to proven practices deserving to be brought to scale. Ascendium works on system-level change, because we believe in education as the great equalizer, creating equitable opportunity for social mobility.
