Ascendium Education Group Releases 2021 Education Philanthropy Report: Stronger Together

Madison, WI—Ascendium Education Group has released its 2021 Education Philanthropy report, Stronger Together. The report tells the story of Ascendium’s philanthropy during 2021 and what can be achieved through partnership and collaboration.

Ascendium made $119 million in grants in 2021 — our highest total ever. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our grant partners for their ability and eagerness to collaborate in the face of adversity, and we look forward to learning about the impacts of their efforts in the years to come.

“Our grantmaking approach recognizes that addressing inequities requires the exploration of promising new solutions, as well as continued evidence-building in support of proven solutions as they’re expanded and scaled,” writes Ascendium’s President & CEO Richard D. George in his message that opens the report. To that end, Ascendium’s grantmaking is aimed explicitly at improving postsecondary education and career outcomes for learners from low-income backgrounds, especially those in historically underrepresented groups: first-generation students, incarcerated adults, rural community members, students of color and veterans. By targeting change at a systems level, we believe we can create equitable opportunity for socioeconomic mobility.
